Hosakote: The rural police are yet to trace the person accused of rape and murder of an eight year old girl inside a shed at Pillgumpa Industrial area under Sulibele police limits on Thursday.
Ramesh B, Rural Superintendent of Police, while speaking to the reporters said that the sketch of the accused has been released, which was prepared with the help of an artist. The sketch was readied with the help of inputs provided by a few persons who had seen the accused before he committed the crime. “The right, left and front profile of the face has been prepared. More than 50 posters with a ‘wanted’ tag has been put up at various places in Hosakote and surrounding areas” he said.
He said, “The CCTV footage was not clear to help sketch the facial features of the accused. However, a rough sketch has been prepared. The public has been requested to inform the police on the phone numbers mentioned in the posters, if they find anyone resembling the sketch.”
Ramesh said that the accused had spoken to a few people before committing the crime. One of them informed the police that the accused had said that he was employed as a labourer in a nearby tiles company.
“We failed to arrive at any conclusion after scrutinising the data of the present and past employees of the tiles company. We are checking the antecedents of the employees of other factories located in the industrial area. The history-sheeters from the nearby areas are also being questioned,” he said.
Arun Chakravarthi, Inspector General of Police (Central Range) said, “Special teams visited the nearby villages and checked about suspicious persons. As many as 20 volunteers from the area have been roped in to help in the hunt for the accused.”
The owner of the shed where the crime took place failed to provide any information. Another senior officer leading a special team said that the fingerprints obtained from the scene of crime were being examined.
