Hassan: The Second Additional District and Sessions Court, here on October 4, convicted four persons accused of robbery and murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The convicted are Manu Kumar, Manja, Sunil , residents of B. Cholenahalli in Channarayapatna taluk, and Manju of Hosakerehalli in Bengaluru.
The gang murdered Tejasvini, a resident of Chikkahonnenahalli on the outskirts of Hassan on September 30, 2013.
Incidentally, Manu knew victim Tejaswini well and committed the murder when her husband and children Manoj and Dhanush were away from home. The incident came to light when one of her son came home for lunch.
They had employed a car to execute the crime and Manu along with two of his accomplices knocked the door. Tejaswini opened the door and rushed to the kitchen to offer them coffee. The trio slit her throat that time and fled with her jewellery.
Based on a complaint lodged by Tejasvini’s husband A.R. Ranga, a peon at KSFC, Circle Inspector of Police Sanjeeve Gowda conducted the probe and succeeded in arresting the accused. The II Additional District and Sessions judge Shyam Prasad conducted the hearing and pronounced the judgement on October 4.
The convicted were sentenced to life-term imprisonment, besides a penalty of Rs. 25,000 each for murder (IPC 302).
