Doha: The Mangalore Cultural Association, a non-profit community aegis to ICC celebrated the Nativity feast with pomp and glory at Ashoka Hall, ICC Qatar on Friday evening. The function started at 7.00PM with MCA theme song and followed by prayer by Hema Fernandes.
A small stage program was held. MCA president Arthur Pais and vice president Jason Quadros escorted the chief guest and the Advisory Members, Mr. Felix Lobo and Mr. Wilfred Fernandes to the stage.
Arthur Pais welcomed the gathering briefed them about the upcoming events to be conducted by the MCA. He said that MCA will be organizing the Gulf Voice of Mangalore-Season 4 semi final round on September 26 at Al-Gazal club, Doha.
He also said that, on completion, the 6th MCA’s prestigious “Kala Puraskar” award will be conferred upon noted Konkani writer Catherine Rodrigues, Katpadi. The chief guest Felix Lobo addressed the audience and explained about the holiness of Nativity feast celebration and importance of Family. Meanwhile the bright academic achievers were honoured with mementos along with their parents.

The function was followed cultural program, which included a group dance by children which pepped up the audience. The group dance by Susan Rodrigues, Jyothi noronha, Shannon Varlin Dsouza too was a foot tapping expereince for the audience.
Melodious Konkani numbers sung by Nina Fernandes, Vincent fernandes, Alphonse Dsilva, Neil Roshan Dsilva, Rupert Lobo and Jovita Pereira enthralled the audience.
Savious Crasta engaged the audience with his song ‘Tiring Tiring mobile apaitha’ while talented Neil Dsouza accompanied him on the the guitar. CJS Thakkode’s Konkani play “Moinyachi Poili Tharik (First Day of Month) was played by Konkani actors Alwine Clement Goveas, Jyothi Noronha, Susan Rodrigues, Wilson Mendonca and Benjamin Rebeiro.
The play was main highlight of the day and had the audience in splits.
Joint Cultural Secretary Anil Cutinha proposed vote of Thanks; Wilma Dsouza compered the cultural program in her inimitable style. General Secretary and talented youngster Sandeep Noronha conducted spot games for the audience to keep them on their toes. Prizes were distributed to the winners by the organisers.
Fr Lancy Fernandes, OFM Cap of Our Lady of Rosary church Qatar was guest of honour and he blessed the Noven Jovon which was was served to audience. The food was prepared by members under the leadership of Miss Stephanie Lobo at the QMC campus.
