GVOM-4 Qatar Semi Final attracts the huge audience

Doha (Qatar): Mangalore Cultural association, a renowned community aegis to ICC has organised Konkani Reality Show Gulf Voice Of Mangalore season 4 semi final round at Al-Ghazal Club on Friday, September 26, evening.

The function started at 5.00 p.m with MCA theme song and followed by slide show on GVOM. President Arthur Pais, Vice president Jason Quadros, Advisory committee members Felix lobo, Wilfred Fernandes, GVOM coordinator Veena Rebimbus Pais escorts the Judges to the Stage.

The renowned Konkani singer Dr Prashanth Raj, composer and musician Fr Stany Tauro and well known base guitarist Ashith Pinto who were judges for the semi-finals specially flown from Mangalore. Wilfred fernandes hand over the marks sheets to the Judges. Later on the semi finalist singers walk into the stage with beautiful procession.

Renowned MC CGS Taccode has picked up the stage tune and taken into wonderful entertaining moment with his playful compering skill.

In female category Eva Wilma Pinto, Nina Fernandes, Sana Britto, Jovita Pereira, Prameela Monteiro and Carren correa are given their best out performances on renowned Konkani numbers.

Meanwhile Male category Fredwin Dsouza, Christon Dsouza, Naveen Pinto, Alphonse D’silva, Remy Dsouza, Harry Correa & Naveen Dsouza given their tough competition with melodies voice.

After the first round of competition, in female category Eva Wilma, Sana Britto and Jovita Pereira move into second round, meanwhile in male Christon Dsouza, Harry Correa and Alphonse D’silva stepped into second round.

Again all 6 contestants came up with their best performances on selected song by judges. It was ‘Kogull Gayta’ song for the female and ‘Haanv Eik Sopnneli’ for the male.

The small stage program was held. MCA president Arthur Pais and vice president Jason Quadros escorts the chief guest Capt.Ravi Kumar, defence chief of embassy of India Qatar and the Advisory Members, Mr. Felix Lobo and Mr. Wilfred Fernandes to the stage. Arthur Pais delivered welcome Keynote and updated upcoming events going to conduct by MCA.

Then the much-awaited MCA ‘Kala Puraskar 2014’ that consist of citation, memento and a cash amount of Rs 1 lac was presented to popular Konkani, Tulu and Kannada playwright, novelist and social activist Catherine Rodrigues, Katpadi. Chief Guest of the evening Capt Ravi Kumar presented her with the prestigious award after treasurer Clement Saldanha read the citation. Speaking on the occasion Catherine shared her struggling story behind novelist and thanked to MCA recognizing for this prestigious award. Meanwhile MCA’s souvenir was released on the occasion by the chief guest.

MCA organized Konkani poetry competition for poets residing in Qatar. The poems were judged by Konkani’s eminent poets Melvyn Rodrigues and CGS Taccode.

The first prize bagged by Gladson D’Almeida, while second place bagged by Nevil Fernandes, and the third place was won by Benjamin Reberio. Catherine Rodrigues distributed the prizes and mementos to all the participants. GVOM coordinator Veena rebimbus has delivered vote of thanked to all the back bone supporters, sponsors and volunteers.

D4 Dance Group enthralls the audience with their scintillating performance. Joswin Pinto, a well-known lead guitarist and his team given wonderful supports to singers on performance by their beautiful matching tunes.

The two times GVOM Runner Up winner Preema Pinto and Rock star Rupert Lobo entertains the audience with their stunning performances. Meanwhile Dr.Prashanth Raj also entertained the audience with his melodies voice on Konkani numbers.

Later on the result has been announced. In male category Harry Correa and female category Sana Britto adjudged as final contestants from Qatar. Renowned Konkani singer Meena Rebimbus distribute award and ribbon to the semi final winners.  The GVOM-4 Final will be held on November 7 at Mascut.

Alfred Cyril Crasta has compere the whole program with his fluent command on Konkani.
