A grand ‘Tuluva Siri Isira 2015’ held in Dubai, nurtures Tulu Culture and Literature

Dubai: A grand Tulu Siri Isira 2015 was held in Dubai yesterday, to uphold and nurture the culture, literature and traditions of Tulunad the erstwhile undivided Dakshina Kannada District in Karnataka.

The program was organized by Tulu Siri Dubai, at Dubai India Club auditorium. The day long programme commenced at 10.30 AM in the morning and concluded at around 6.00 PM. It was unique in that had many cultural dimensions  – Sahitya Siri – a collection of various books on Tulu and various Tulu Musical CD’s,  Bhashey Siri, a conference on languages, Kabithe Siri,  a festival of poetry and language,  and Sangeetha Siri, the musical dimension of culture and Samskruthika, a celebration of the rich Tulu culture.

The program was inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada District Rajyotsava award winner Dr. Y N Shetty along with distinguished guests  from the UAE , Sarvotham Shetty, President, Abu Dhabi  Karnataka Sangha, Praveen Shetty, Director, Fortune group of hotels, Walter Nandalike, Editor, Daijiworld, Sateesh Venkataramana, Director, Chilly Willy trading, Ramachandra Hegde, Director, Spraytek Contracting and President of Tulu Siri Dubai, Padmaraj Yekkar.

The dignitaries were escorted to the stage in a grand procession.  Sarvotham Shetty in his address to the gathering expressed the wish that Tulu Siri becomes a way to provide the flavor of Tulu culture to people all over the world and asked them to organize more and more programs which encourage Tuluvas  worldwide to meet and unite.

The Chief guest,  Dr. Y N Shetty, elaborated  on the past history of Tulunadu and the Tulu language and said Christian Missionaries who came from Germany have documented the language’s milestones  which suggest that the Tulu language has a great history. He concluded his speech with a request to all present to join hands in an effort to save Tulu and its traditions and hoped that Tulu may become a part of the  8th Schedule of the Indian constitution which will add national value to our culture.

Walter Nandalike along with other guests of honor, inaugurated the Sahitya Siri-a collection of Tulu books and musical CD’s.

BhaasheSiri -a conference on Tulu culture, tradition and its future, was presided over by B K Ganesh Rai. Manohar Tonse, Abu Dhabi, Nanumarol, Dubai, Sudarshan Hegde, Dubai  and Padmaraj Yekkar, Sharjah made presentations at the conference.

Known Poet Irshad Moodbidri, Dubai presided over the KabiteSiri, a Tulu poets meet. Well known  poets,  Gopinath Rao, Sharjah, M E Moolur, Dubai, Robert Fernandes, Dubai, Stany Bela, Dubai and Arthur Pereira, Dubai presented their funny and thought filled lines in Tulu which drew  huge applause and often laughter, from the massive audience.

Sangeeta Siri was a musical treat for the audience. It was ably led by musician Arun Karlo.  Singers Dony Correa, Asha Correa, Prima Rodrigues, Sandra D’Souza and Harish Sherigar  rendered famous Tulu songs to the musical backing of  Arun Karlo and his team of talented musicians.

SamskrathikaSiri depicted the richness of the Tulu Culture. ‘Tulu Nada Vaibhava’  a  Tulu play was staged by Ganesh Shetty Bailoor and team. The play was choreographed by Jasmitha  Vivek of Smile creations who enthralled the audience with the colors of, and the cultural richness of Tulunadu. Baby Sparsha Shetty won the hearts of the audience with her debut Bharatanatyam  performance.

The valedictory was presided over by Dr. Y N Shetty along with guests of honor,  Sarvotham Shetty-President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka sangha, Walter nandalike editor of Daijiworld, Harish Sherigar president of ACME building materials, Prakash Payyar president of Dhwani Pratishthana, Dayan D’souza founder president of Daiji Dubai, Sudhir Kumar Poojary Director of Impress Tech Dubai. All guests expressed their  satisfaction with the organization and the way the event unfolded and wished a bright future for the initiative.

Dr. YN Shetty, and  Art Director Ganesh Rai were honored by Tulu Siri Dubai on the occasion. Shodhan Prasad, Producer of Nirel, the first Tulu to achieve international fame, was also honored.

Sponsors and well-wishers of the event along with media personnel were honored too, with  a  memento  by President Padmaraj Yekkar.

The event was conducted and presented by well known Tulu artist, Namma TV fame Naveen Shetty Edmemar. Naveen too was honored by Tulu Siri Dubai for his outstanding patronage to the Tulu language and its culture.

Mind blowing lights and heart blasting sounds were provided by famous event management company of UAE Broadway Events,  Abu Dhabi and Event manager of Broadway events, Roshan honored by Tulu Siri Dubai.

Padmaraj Yekkar president of Tulu Siri Dubai thanked everyone for making the event a grand success and congratulated his associate members for their humble and countless efforts.
