Dubai: Meals will be distributed to workers across Dubai from April 15 to December 31 daily as part of a charity event.
According to a top official, full meals, including high-quality food, natural juices and cups of cold water, will be distributed to workers under the project named ‘Mobile Suqia’.
This move is part of a pioneer-ing charity project announced on Thursday by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai on the side-lines of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Develop-ment Conference and Exhibition 2015 (Dihad).
According to a top official, full meals, including high-quality food, natural juices and cups of cold water, will be distributed to workers under the project named ‘Mobile Suqia’.Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, direc-tor-general of the department, said the scheme targets over 700,000 workers who work out-doors across the emirate.“A three-month midday break is made compulsory for labourers who work outdoors during the summer months from June 15 un-til September 15. ”Ali Hassan Al Marzouqi, man-ager of zakat and charity bureau in the department, said they have launched two other charity proj-ects. “A specialised company has been contracted to supply some seven million cups of cold water to over 150 mosques in the emir-ate of Dubai.
”The venture, themed: ‘Mosque Suqia’, was a big success last year with around 2.5 million cups of water distributed to blue-collar workers in Dubai.
