Bengaluru: Naragunda taluk in Gadag district of the state will be announced as the first taluk in the state which is free from open defecation.
It can be recalled that Gadag is the home district of H K Patil, rural development and panchayat raj minister whose department is implementing the sanitation project across all the villages of the state.
According to the sources, vice president M Venkaiah Naidu will make the announcement on September 26 in this regard during his visit to Konnur village of the taluk.
According to the officers in the state Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, all the district panchayats have been given October 2 deadline to construct toilets for each family and community toilets in every grama panchayat level.
