Mumbai: ‘Motion se hi emotion,’ with a tagline like this we are bound to expect some unconventional cinema coming in the foreground.
‘Piku’s’ trailer saw the light of day at an eventful evening in Andheri PVR where the star-cast- Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan took the centre stage.
As expected the trailer did not fall short of comic timings and breathtaking Bengal landscapes. Deepika, who is juggling between the ‘Piku’ promotions and her ‘Bajirao Mastani’ shoot, wore an olive-green skirt and a casual chic top but something that caught our eyes was Mr. Bachchan’s vivacious style. Big B looked a decade younger when he donned a pop-coloured zipper-hoodie and pants while cracking jokes here and there during the trailer launch. Interrupting a journalist when she asked a question to Dippy he says, “Basically ye janna chahti hain ke Deepika ka biyaah kab horha hai (The journalist wants to know when is Deepika getting married).”
Irrfan, who was pleased to promote his film, was completely engrossed in the same, so-much-so that he preferred sticking to his film related questions even when asked about the ongoing Cricket World Cup, “The world has only two kinds of people, the ones who are Bengali and the ones who aren’t,” he quipped delivering a dialogue from the film.
While it is known to many that Deepika is close to her dad, Prakash Padukone, she also seemed to get along well with Senior Bachchan during the course of the film.
Speaking on the occasion she says, “Not just me and my father but I think every daughter-father will relate to what Piku and Baba go through because they are very relatable characters. Even the situations are very relatable. It is what all of us go through in our lives at some point, right from growing up to working to taking care of your parents.”
Deepika, after bravely coming out in the open and sharing about her depression, also talked about how woman in their day-to-day lives manage to multitask and still have time for themselves. “Women at the end of the day, most of us are working women but we also multitask. We take care of our homes, we take care of our parents, and we still have our social lives. You know you want that little time to yourself also. When you have that little moment in the morning in your shower or when you are getting ready just to see if you’re looking presentable or not. I think it is just not between my dad and me but every girl will relate to all these characters,” she said.
Shoojit Sircar’s film Piku is all about the father-daughter bonding in this modern age and is set to hit the screens on May 8.
The comedy-drama also features Moushumi Chatterjee, Akshay Oberoi and Jishu Sengupta in pivotal roles.
