Kicccha Sudeep’s ‘Kotigobba 2’ has done extraordinary business. Released with huge expectations on August 12, the film has lived up to its expectations. Sudeep’s performance as Satya and Shivu has been well applauded by audience and critics alike. Many celebrities have praised Sudeep’s performance. Adding to the list of celebrities praising Sudeep is maverick director Ram Gopal Varma.
RGV posted a few tweets about Sudeep and Kotigobba 2. The tweets are:

However, what RGV did not know was that his tweet would cause so much trouble in Karnataka. RGV’s tweet calling Vishnuvardhan amateur did not go well with the fans of the legendary actor. The fans want him to apologize. However, RGV has not apologized yet.
Fans of Vishnuvardhan protested in front of KFCC office recently where RGV was given ‘Chappal Seva’. Many celebrities like K Manju, Jaggesh and Sa Ra Govindu asked RGV to apologize. Fans of Vishnuvardhan warned that they will not allow any RGV film to release in Karnataka.
RGV’s next is ‘Rai’, which is a multilingual based on underworld don Muthappa Rai. The film which is primarily being made in Kannada will surely face the ire of the fans, who have asked the film’s producer to back out of the project. However, producer C R Manohar has said that he is not backing out of the project.
Speaking about the controversy, C R Manohar said, “I am a huge fan of Dr Vishnuvardhan. I also produced his film ‘School Mesthru’, which was his first film to release after his death. However, I cannot stop a film just due to a comment. RGV is known for his bold statements. I am not responsible for his comments. There are many people involved in ‘Rai’. We cannot stop the film just because of a statement made by the director in social media.”
RGV is not the kind of celebrity who thinks twice before expressing his thoughts. He will appreciate if he likes someone’s work and in the same way he criticizes if he doesn’t like something.
This is not the first time he has faced criticisms on social media. In the past he has attacked celebrities like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan with his tweets. However, criticizing a legendary actor like Vishnuvardhan, who is not alive now, is foolishness. He has criticized actors who are alive and acting. However, this is the not the case with Vishnuvardhan.
First of all why did he compare Sudeep with Vishnuvardhan, just because the film’s title is ‘Kotigobba 2’? Vishnu had acted in ‘Kotigoibba’. Both the films have no similarities, except the producer. The makers of ‘Kotigobba 2’ have also agreed that the title was used as it was more saleable.
So it was stupid on part of a top director like Ram Gopal Varma to get involved in such controversy.
The best part of this controversy is Sudeep’s reply. Sudeep responded to RGV in style on twitter – “@RGVzoomin thanks fr th appreciation sir….but I’m nowhere close nor a comparison to th two legends, Vishnusir & RajiniSir..”
