Ajaneesh Loknath taking Sandalwood’s music to another level

Rising to fame with the melodious music and background score in Rakshit Shetty’s directorial flick “Ulidavaru Kandanthe”, Ajaneesh Loknath is one of the most sought after music directors in Sandalwood presently.

Having started his career with “Shishira” as music director, Ajaneesh’ music has freshness that all seem to like. Whether it’s “Gaatiya Ilidu” or “Kanna Muche” song, he perfectly blended all the emotions in these songs. The epic background music of “Ulidavaru Kandanthe”, especially those Huli Vesa scenes will always be remembered.

Apart from music, Ajaneesh also composes the background score for movies. The background score is considered to be more important than the music of the film since the songs take up for only 30 minutes of the film duration while the remaining part requires apt background music. Ajaneesh has currently been composing background score for all the films wherein he is a music composer besides also for other music directors in films like “Rangitaranga” and “Vascodigama.”

Ajaneesh has composed music for films like “Ishtakamya”, “Akira”, “Sipaayi”, “Sundaranga Jaana” and “Srikanta.” His most popular music is from last year’s blockbuster film “Kirik Party.” The songs in the film were such a rage that it also broke all records on Youtube. If anyone asks, who is the main hero of “Kirik Party”, it is Ajaneesh Loknath. The film had 10 songs and all of them were so good. “Belegeddu” song of “Kirik Party” sung by Vijay Prakash has become a sensation. Non-Kannadigas, who do not understand nor speak a word in Kannada are now singing the song fluently in Kannada. Other songs in the film like “Last Bench”, “Kaagadada Doniyaalli”, “Katheyondu Helide” and “Neecha Sullu” were also chartbusters.

Speaking about Ajaneesh’s popularity, Sanjay, an ardent Ajaneesh fan says, “Ajaneesh Loknath has surely taken Sandalwood to next level. His music compositions are unique. I think he is yet to be properly utilised. Only Rakshit Shetty has fully exploited his potential. Other directors have not been able to do it to that extent. No wonder, his music in Rakshit Shetty starrer “Kirik Party” and “Ulidavaru Kandanthe” are a rage. I feel he was a given a free hand while composing music for Rakshit Shetty’s film and therefore he succeeded in giving his best. I hope he composes more and more music in coming days.”

Ajaneesh may be a top composer today but even he had to struggle a lot to reach this level. Even after composing music for “Ulidavaru Kandanthe”, he was dropped from the same team’s “Ricky”, as the producer of the film, was allegedly not happy with the music director. Even though the director Risabh Shetty and actor Rakshit Shetty protested against this, the producer was adamant. With no option left, they had to drop Ajaneesh from the film. But Rakshit Shetty and Risabh Shetty showed their support for him by signing him for “Kirik Party.” And the results are for all to be seen.

Ajaneesh was also recently accused of copying a song by Lahari Music. The company filed a case against the makers as they felt that song “Hey! Who are You” from “Kirik Party” is a rip off of a popular song in “Shanthi Kranthi”, music rights of which are with Lahari. However, Ajaneesh claimed that the song is a tribute to Ravichandran and Hamsaleka, who ruled the music scenes in late 80’s and 90’s in Sandalwood.

Though Ajaneesh has done well for himself, he still has to prove himself while working with other teams apart from Rakshit Shetty’s team. As said by one of his fans, “His collaboration with Rakshit Shetty and team has worked well for him. But with other teams, he has not been able to give such great music. Of course, the songs in other films are good but they are not in the same range of what he composes for Rakshit Shetty’s team. He recently worked with top star Shivarajkumar in ‘Srikanta’. The music of the film met with mixed response. He will have to prove himself more so that he starts to work in more top star’s film.”

Ajaneesh will soon be making his debut in neighbouring industry Kollywood. At present he is composing music for “Kurangu Bommai” and “Richie”, which is Tamil remake of “Ulidavaru Kandanthe.”

We will have to wait and see, if he will be able to recreate his magical music in Tamil movies as he does in the Kannada movies.
