Mangaluru: The inauguration of the new MRI unit of Indiana Hospital and Heart Institute, Mangaluru, took place at the hospital premises on Thursday, March 24.
Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Dr. K S Ravindranath cut the ribbon and inaugurated the MRI unit.
Dr. Z K Misri, Director, Indiana Hospital, welcomed the gathering and said that MRI was mandatory in every hospital for the benefit of the patients.
“The presence of a MRI unit will help in further investigation and treatment of a patient. We have 1.5T MRI unit which will provide the correct information and also feasible for patients. Prevention is better than cure. MRI can help identifying diseases, prevent and reduce the risk for people,” he said.
Prof. N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, Mangaluru, delivered the key note address. He said that it was a difficult task of running a hospital with huge expectations from the patients and general public.
“We can have the best possible treatment with this new MRI unit playing a significant role. This hospital is an icon hospital for Mangaluru. It’s a centre of excellence,” he said.
Dr. Yusuf Kumble, Managing Director, Indiana Hospital, Mangaluru, spoke about the milestone Indiana Hospital had achieved.
“We have highly qualified technical staff and excellent visiting and in-house doctors. W are providing paramedical education to improve quality of treatment,” he said.
Dr. Ravindranath, in his inaugural address said that patients coming to Indiana Hospital will feel very convenient as all the investigation will be done under one roof.
“New technologies have made life easier for doctors. I request Indiana Hospital to implement government schemes for poor patients,” he said.
“The MRI unit will help in early diagnosis, management and treatment of diseases. I congratulate the hospital for the bold step,” he added.
Dr. Naveenchandra Alva, Director, Dr Peter Jayaraj, Radiologist, Haneefa Aramana, Director, both from Indiana Hospital and others were present.
