Dharwad: Pro-environment organisations have come together to conduct “Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival on Environment” in Dharwad on February 18 and 19 at Srijana Rangamandir.Organisations like Sustainable Development Forum (SDF), Dharwad’s University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Nature Research Centre and State Forest Department (Dharwad circle) have joined hands to organise the event wherein around 30 short films on development and nature from various nations would be screened besides organising interactions, exhibition of photographs on nature and field visits.
Speaking to media persons, environmentalist Dr. Sanjeev Kulkarni said social activist of Belagavi Shivaji Kaganikar would inaugurate the film festival on February 18 at 10 am, in the presence of District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni, UAS VC Dr. D P Biradar, Dharwad’s Nature Research Centre President P V Hiremath and SDP Convener Dr. Prakash Bhat.
Awards
While Shivaji Kaganikar will be honoured with “Vasundhara Sanman” award, nature enthusiast and photographer Pampayya Malemath will be conferred with “Vasundhara Mitra” award in the two-day programme.
Awards will be given to those who come up with best selfie photo of trees and short film on nature too, he said. As part of film festival, bird watch, cycle jatha, tree walk, Kelageri tank visit among other field programmes are being conducted, Bhat added.
