Dharwad: Members of the district unit of Socialist Unity Center of India (SUCI) have strongly opposed the hike in power tariff and milk prices and staged a protest demanding that the government must reduce the hiked prices of these essential things and help the poor and middle class.
In a release issued here SUCI district secretary Ramanjanappa Aldalli said that the rationale behind the hike in milk prices i.e to provide more money to dairy farmers was uncalled for. He pointed out that other than milk business, KMF was also involved in selling other products of milk and the federation was probably incurring losses due to its own bad marketing strategy. Further he added that instead of controlling corruption in its administration, imposing the loss on people was not fair.
There has been increasing trend of power rates after power supply system was given to private players, which has been impacting the lives of commoners in society. By controlling pilferage of power, controlling corruption in its administration and recovering dues from major industries power can be supplied at cheaper rates, he said.
He warned the government of more protests in this regard, if the government did not respond positively to their demands.
