Dharwad: The writers, thinkers, students and others in Dharwad took out a silent march protesting the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh.
The protest march began from the residence of slain scholar M M Kalburgi and culminated at the Kadapa Maidan grounds. Linguist Ganesh Devy said there was a resemblance between the killings of Narendra Dabolkar, Govind Pansare, Kalburgi, and Gauri Lankesh. The government should nab the murderers failing which the writers, social thinkers and others would be forced to launch an indefinite hunger protest, he said.
Writer Ramjan Dargah said this murder had proven that criminal forces in the state were more powerful than the government.
Social activist Sharadha Dabade, writers Malati Pattanshetti, Vinaya Vakkund, Shankar Halgatthi, K H Patil, Sanjiv Kulkarni, and others were present.
College students took part in the protest in good numbers.
The members of the Dharwad Media Club had staged a demonstration on September 5 night.
