Dharwad: In a shameful act, a rape and murder accused who was out on bail held a road show to celebrate his release. However, the act irked the locals and police and he was sent back into the jail by the Dharwad police.
Mukthum Sogalada, a businessman was jailed in connection with rape, two murders and abduction cases. On Thursday he was granted bail and a huge road show was held which created traffic jam in the town. As many as 500 bikes, 20 cars and others participated in the show, sources said. His shameful act of celebration being a murderer enraged locals who demanded action.
Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner MM Nagaraj claimed that they had not sought permission for the road show hence they were arrested.
The accused had joined JD(S) but he was ousted after his arrest.
