Dharwad: The movable properties of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) office in Dharwad were attached by the court staff for failing to pay proper compensation to a farmer’s family after land acquisition.
Computers, laptops, furniture and other movable properties were seized.
The Second Additional Civil Court had ordered seizure of the movable properties of the KIADB as it had failed to pay a compensation of Rs 17.63 Lakh to one Nagaveni Kanyakubja as per court orders.
The KIADB had purchased 4.18 acre land belonging to one Nagaveni located at Lakmanhalli in Dharwad in 1986-87 for setting up KMF Dairy.
As the KIADB failed to provide compensation as sought by the land loser, a petition was filed in the civil court. The court too had ordered the KIADB to pay the compensation and had fixed the rate.
However, challenging the lower court order, she had even approached the Apex court.
However, the Apex Court too had upheld the lower court’s order and had directed the KIADB to disburse compensation at the earliest. Even after this, when KIADB failed to comply with the court order, the petitioner filed a contempt case which resulted in the seizing of movable properties of KIADB office.
