Dharwad: Hundreds of farmers, agri-labourers, women, students took part in a Mega Jatha held in Dharwad on Monday, conducted by pro-people organisations against bad politics and to help solve public problems.
The Jatha aimed at initiating parallel public power against misrule of political parties, started from Kalabhavan and passed through Subhash Road, KCC Bank, Jakani Bavi and later converged into a public gathering at Vivekananda circle where leaders of many organisations addressed the public.
Speaking on the occasion, President of All India Democratic Youth Organisation Ramanjanappa Aldalli said, “The successive governments which ruled the state since independence acted like agents of capitalists. Though Janata Parivar was preferred against 50 years of misrule by Congress, but the Parivar embroiled in internal fight and dashed the hopes of people. The BJP which snatched the opportunity later proved to be the most corrupt government.
Hence a common platform involving pro-people organisations has been formed to create awareness among public.”
Luncha Muktha Karnataka Nirmana Vedike President Ravikrishna Reddy said the Jatha launched in Mandya on April 17 had so far traversed six districts with full public support.
Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha leader K T Gangadhar took both State and Union governments to task for neglecting farmers’ needs.
Jana Sangrama Parishat head S R Hiremath who presided over said the parallel struggle for people’s problems must be extended across the state in form of a public campaign. People especially, the youth should unite against misrule of all political parties, he said.
Folk troupes presented songs of public campaign on the occasion.
