Mass prayer marks celebration of Ramzan

Dharwad: Thousands of Muslim bretheren held mass prayers at Idgah Maidan here on Monday morning on the occasion of Ramzan festival.

Children, old and young alike took part in the prayers.

Addressing the gathering, Anjuman-E-Islam President Ismail Tamatgar said, “Festivals help cleanse our body and soul. Praying with pure soul touches the almighty’s heart and he will bless us. Observing fast also helps us to take good path in life.”

Highlighting the service extended by Anjuman-E-Islam to the society in education and social fields, Tamatgar said, “Free education is being given to 10th and 12th standard students and at Junior College to those scoring 80 percent of marks. Five poor students are given free education at degree level and hostel building for girl students is being built at the campus.

The society is helping poor and small businessmen by channelising funds from other charitable organisations, NGOs, he added.

He informed that CM Siddaramaiah had assured to sanction 25 acres of land to the organisation.

District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni also participated in the mass prayer.

Members of Anjuman-E-Islam and others were present.
