Dharwad: Members of the district unit of All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) paid rich tributes to the freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on the occasion of his 87th death anniversary.
Observing the occasion as Martyrdom Day, a rally was taken out in honour of Bhagat Singh, on the important thoroughfares of the city along with a portrait of the legend. The rally concluded at Jakani Bhavi where the Martyrs’ Pole is situated. The members garlanded the spot in honour.
Speaking on the occasion AIDYO District President Lakshman Jadagannavar said Bhagat Singh had infused terror in the hearts of British rulers. He had dreamt of building a socialistic state. Having been influenced by socialist stalwart Lenin of Russia, Bhagat Singh always thought for working class and he wanted them to rule the country.
But after his demise, the capitalists started influencing the rulers then and now, keeping away the working class. Today’s youth must contribute their might to realise the dream by Bhagat Singh of building a socialist country, he said.
AIDYO District Vice President Ramesh Hosamani presided over.
