Dharwad: Karnataka University, Dharwad (KUD) stands second among the state-funded universities with a 3 Stars rating under the Established Universities, as per the report of inaugural edition of the Karnataka State Universities Rating Framework (KSURF)-an assessment of all the state, private and deemed universities.
The varsity has secured 4 Stars in Research Excellence, Infrastructure, Inclusiveness and Social Impact.
The Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) of the Department of Higher Education, has released the report, which has been compiled by “ICARE Ratings”, the research and analysis division of the Indian Centre for Academic Rankings and Excellence on behalf of state government.
A release issued by the Registrar of KUD said, this is the first among all the states to undertake a detailed audit and evaluation of all its universities–an effort similar to the central government’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
The government through KSURF, aims to assess and identify the strengths and weaknesses of the universities in the state and help them improve on their deficiencies.
Rating has been done under parameters such as Research Excellence, Innovation, Teaching Excellence, Employability, Infrastructure and Inclusiveness and Social Impact. The framework consists of 5 broad parameters and 27 indicators.
On the whole, the university has earned Three Stars for Good Quality University. The Karnataka University has also received the status of University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) Status from UGC.
