Dharwad: The two-day 11th Dharwad Zilla Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held on March 25 and 26. Senior poet V C Airsang has been elected unanimously as the president of the Sammelana.
District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Lingaraj Angadi, in a release issued here, said that the literary meet would be inaugurated on March 25 at 10:30 am by senior writer Dr Basavaraj Sabarad and Siddhalinga Pattenshetti would preside over.
Dr. Shantinath Dibbad would be delivering the keynote address, while social thinker Rajendra Chenni, who was the previous Sammelana president, would be delivering a special talk, followed by his successor V C Airsang’s speech and a book releasing ceremony.
Prior to this programme, District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni will be inaugurating the new Sahitya Bhavan in the R N Shetty stadium premises. MP Pralhad Joshi would be laying the foundation stone for the construction of an open-air theatre, he said.
During the first session, talk and discussion on Vachana Sahitya, media and literature and social media would be held. This will be followed by sessions on children’s literature and textbook syllabus. A talk on folk literature will be held followed by cultural programmes, he added.
On the second day, March 26, a poets’ meet will be held under the presidentship of Ashok Shettar. S S Chikmath will inaugurate the session, while Dr Rangaraj Vanadurg will be delivering key-note address. A total of 25 poets will be rendering poems.
This will be followed by recitation of poems authored by V C Airsang.
At 12:30 pm, a session on women’s literature will be held, chaired by senior writer Shantha Imrapur. This will be followed by a session on “Resources and its Utilisation.” Here the experts would be speaking on land, water, air and border issues.
Nadoja Dr. Patil Puttappa would preside over the valedictory programme, the release said.
