Dharwad: While stressing for creation of more jobs for youths, Large & Medium Industries Minister R V Deshpande has said that almost 60 percent of the India’s population is between the age of 18 to 35 years and making them industry-ready is the need of the hour.
Speaking after inaugurating Tata Hitachi Operator training Centre at Belur Industrial Area in Dharwad, Minister Deshpande said India will become the country of young population by 2015. To empower this population with jobs, there is a need for growth of industrial sector. However, there is a stiff competition in industrial sector and only those with creative skills would get job.
In this regard, both the Centre and the State have launched skill development programme and need-based training will be imparted to the youths free of cost, he added.
In Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah heads the newly-formed Skill Ministry, through this the government aims at providing skill training to more than five lakh youths, he added.
He alleged that the NDA government while coming to power had assured of creating one crore jobs every year, but have drastically failed to keep up to their promises, he said. Deshpande said to enhance the facilities at Belur Industrial Area in Dharwad the government had sanctioned Rs 18 Crore.
