Dharwad: The members of district Congress came together in support of Pejawar seer who organised Iftar meet for Muslim brethren which has been opposed by Sriram Sene President Pramod Muthalik.

Congress members on Tuesday, held a protest infront of DC office against Pramod Muthalik and demanded the government to extradite him for trying to curtail peace in society.

Congress leader Deepak Chinchore, addressing protesters, said the seer’s move to invite Muslims for Iftar was a welcome move to establish peace and cordial atmosphere in the society. “Everybody has to strive for maintaining peace and harmony in the society but some of the people are opposing this in the name of religion which is uncalled for,” he added.

He announced support to Pejawar seer while warning Muthalik of intensifying protests against him if he did not desist from doing so.

“The seer has been involved in various charity and welfare programmes. It is our duty to safeguard the interests of such a person,” he said while urging CM Siddaramaiah to extradite Muthalik from Karnataka.

KPCC members and corporators were present on the occasion.
