Dharwad: The Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Dharwad chapter as part of its 68th Foundation Day, honoured its senior volunteers and presidents while rededicating itself for ensuring quality life for people.
Speaking on the occasion, Founder-President of FPAI K S Deshpande expressed concern over the green environment being destructed around.
“Lakes and trees are disappearing and concrete jungles replacing them. The people’s standard of life too has gone down. Forty-five years ago, speaking about family planning was considered a sin. The 30 crore population of India has increased to 133 crore now,” he said.
Prof. Usha Murthy said FPAI which had started working on population control then was now focusing on quality of people’s life.
Longest served members Dr. M N Tavargeri and Sunanda Kulkarni too were felicitated on the occasion.
FPAI Branch Manager Sujata Anishettar also spoke.
