District judge, officials lead cleanliness drive at century old Kelageri tank

Dharwad: District Principal and Sessions Judge V Shreeshanand and Hubballi Dharwad Muncipal Corporation Commissioner Major Siddalingaiah Hiremath led the people in a cleanliness drive organised at the century old Kelageri tank here, as part of National Cleanliness Day on Monday.

Representatives of various organisations, officials and people extended their help in removing plastic papers, weeds and other garbage from the tank water. The work was later continued by Pourkarmikas.

Inaugurating the programme, Judge V Shreeshanand stressed on the responsibility of all people in maintaining environmental cleanliness.

He said, “Pure weather originates from pure water. We all have the responsibility to safeguard our water bodies. Contamination of water happening in many forms in nature must be prevented and conducive environment created for birds and animals too.”

He urged the people residing beside Kelageri tank to extend their help in maintenance of the tank all the time.
Environmentalists, Corporators, students, NSS volunteers and officials took part.
