Dharwad Institute of Paramedical Science starts

Dharwad: The government is establishing new colleges and introducing new courses to impart quality medical education inorder to cope with the ever growing medicine field. When compared with the private medical colleges, the quality of education provided in government colleges is much better, said Deputy Commissioner S B Bommanahalli.

Speaking after inaugurating the Dharwad Institute of Paramedical Science in the Civil Hospital premises here on Tuesday evening, DC said the government medical colleges were blessed with abundant resources and high quality teaching fraternity. Some of the expert doctors too are rendering yeomen service to the medical students by holding classes and imparting new developments in medical sciences. Due to such efforts, the government doctors have earned people’s faith and credibility, he added.

The government has established Paramedical Institute in Dharwad to overcome the shortage of paramedical staff in government hospitals. The paramedical staff has to constantly update its knowledge, acquire new skills, and work for the recovery of the patients. The young professionals have to seek the guidance of the experts in rendering service to the poor and needy patients, said Bommanahalli.

He lauded the initiative of some of the corporate houses who had come forward to provide latest medical equipment to the civil hospital under their CSR activity.

ZP CEO R Snehal said there was a shortage of more than 3,000 paramedical staff in government hospitals. The new institute is a boon for the students of this region, she added.

District Surgeon Giridhar Kukanoor, DIMHANS Director B N Ravish and others were present.
