Dharwad: Hundreds of students, members of pro-environment organisations and environmentalists took part in a Cycle Jatha organised here on Wednesday, as a prelude to the film festival on environment to be held in city on Feb 18 and 19.
The aim of the jatha was to create awareness on restoring the clean environment besides including people in this mega task.
Speaking after inaugurating the Cycle Jatha, noted environmentalist Dr. Prakash Bhat asked people to introspect among themselves on how to live by changing their lifestyle without affecting the environment. He stressed on inclusive efforts to save the environment.
Hundreds of members of Go Green Pedlars, Dharwad and Hubballi Cycling groups and school children took part in the Jatha that started from Karnataka College ground and passed through Akashavani road, Old DySP circle, Vivekanand circle, Alur Venkatarao circle before reaching Karnataka College ground.
Veteran environmentalists like Pandit Munji and others led the Jatha on an open jeep, which was held under the auspices of Nature Research Centre, Susthira Abhivrudhi Vedike and other organisations.
