Dharwad: The raged farmers who were staging stir for implementation of Kalasa-Banduri project ended up locking the offices of District in-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni and Hubballi-Dhrwad West MLA Aravind Bellad on Thursday.

Farmers from Navalgund, Nargund, Ramdurg, and Dharwad, along with the members of the Pakshateetha Horata Samiti and Kalasa-Banduri Horata Samiti took out the protest rally and formed a human chain at the busy Jubilee Circle.

Later, they marched towards the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) office premises raising slogans against the Union and State governments.

However, the irked farmers resorted to barging into the offices of the Minister and the ML foiling the bid of the police to stop and pacify them.

Loknath Hebsur, farmers’ leader, said that the protesters had decided to picket the filtering station at Amminbhavi and stop the water supply to the twin cities in an attempt to wake up the MLAs, MPs, and Ministers of this region. They would lay siege to the Amminbhavi filtering station on May 11, and launch an indefinite dharna.
