Dharwad: Samaja Parivarthane Samudaya Chief S R Hiremath has asked farmers to join hands in cleaning India from corrupt politicians.

Speaking at a farmers’ convention on the occasion of 38th Farmers Martyrs Day held in Dharwad, Hiremath called upon the people to brace up for the second freedom struggle to clean India from corrupt politicians.

“The national political parties have literally failed to deliver the assurances given by the independent India to the people. Due to the vested interests by these political parties, the rich are becoming super rich while the poor are turning poorer,” he added.

The concept of social justice and equal opportunities for all has taken a severe beating, he said.

“The agriculture sector in India is going through a rough phase and the farmers have stopped cultivating the land due to various reasons.
By making amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill, the successive governments have snatched away the fertile agricultural land at throw away prices from the farmers. The farmer has to struggle hard from natural vagaries and the fluctuating market and hence, agriculture has not become a profitable venture even after 70 years of independence,” he regretted.

“In the name of bringing in reforms and good service to the people, the government is on a spree of privatising all the sectors. Education and health sectors too are being privatised so that the corporate companies can loot the common man and put an end to the human values,” he charged.

Leaders of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha, Hasiru Sene among others were present.
