Mangaluru: The Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh felicitated achievers from the community in various fields here at Milagres College auditorium on January 26.
Catholic Sabha honoured banker and President of Fudar Pratishthan John D’Silva, Vinod Serrao, Vice-President, Moodabidri Town Municipal Council, ACP Valentine D’Souza who received the prestigious President Police Medal and singer Anil Patrao, winner of Sandesha Music Award 2017. Joel D’Souza from Mulky and Ashok Goveas from Badyar who won the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) elections also were felicitated. Another lady Celestine D’Souza, winner of APMC election from Madyanthar could not attend the function.
Dr (Fr) Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru diocese presided over the function. Addressing the gathering, Bishop said, “All those who were felicitated today are recognised by the society for their service and I am happy to honour them.” Urging people from the Catholic community to come forward and serve the society, he called on all to work towards producing capable leaders for better future.
Allen C Pereira, former chairman, Bank of Maharashtra, the chief guest on the occasion appreciated the service of those who were being felicitated. He lauded the service of John D’Silva in developing cooperative banks.
John D’Silva, after the felicitation, thanked everyone for recognising his service and appealed to Catholics to join civil services, business and politics.
Anil Lobo, President of Catholic Sabha, welcomed the gathering and Alwyn Danthy compered the event. Walter Monis, General Secretary, Catholic Sabha thanked.
Godwin Pinto, Convenor of Political Committee, Fr Matthew Vas, Spiritual Director and Shalet Pinto, President, District Women’s Congress were present on the occasion.
