Belagavi: Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi celebrated the 148th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji and the 114th birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastriji on October 2. Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor of VTU was the Chief Guest.
On this occasion Vice Chancellor said that, “Gandhiji has been given the title of ‘Father of the Nation’ for his relentless hard work that helped India to attain freedom through non-violence. By remembering him on this day, we have to pay tribute to this great leader”. H called upon the youngsters to pledge to adopt his way of life and principles of empathy, humbleness, honesty and sincerity.
“Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti is also celebrated on October 2 every year. Today, it is fit to mention that both the two great heroes born on this day dedicated their lives to the larger cause of the nation” he added.
Dr. A. V. Shivapur, Dr. S. B. Dandagi, Dr. Arif Ali Khan and other faculty members of VTU Center for PG Studies, Belagavi, officers and staff of VTU and post-graduate students were participated in the function.
