Mangaluru: Vikas PU College celebrated Sanskrithotsava  to uplift the “Deva Bhasa” on Thursday, August 18.

The Guest of Honor, Captain Ganesh Karnik, Member of the legislative council, highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s saying, “Rooted in the past, and full of pride in India’s heritage, Vivekananda was yet modern in his approach to life’s problems, and was a kind of bridge between the past of India and her present. We have to be deeply contended to our motherland, culture and values. We should know what we have to accept and imitate. All the attractions are temporary and not permanent”. He said that Sanskrit is a key language with immense vocabulary and adaptable grammar.

The chief Guest Adarsh Gokhale enlightened the students about the connoisseurs of the Sanskrit language and said that it is the language of heart. “Whatever be the emotion one wishes to display, be it devotion, love, affection, fear, threat, anger, compassion, benevolence, admiration, surprise and the most appropriate words of Sanskrit can flow like a gushing stream. The topmost scorers in our state have taken Sanskrit as their choice of language. IAS exams can be written in Sanskrit. Sanskrit was considered as “DevBhasha”, “Devavani” or the language of the Gods by ancient Indians. It is made up of the primordial sounds, and is developed systematically to include the natural progressions of sounds as created in the human mouth. Our modern languages of India are children of Sanskrit, and to it owe most of their vocabulary and their forms of expressions. In Sanskrit we don’t find any negative word in which we can scold others.” He said that Sanskrit is the universal mother of grammar and science which made the students to realize the importance of Sanskrit.
