SJEC conference on Smart Computing emphasizes on innovation

Mangaluru: A two-day national conference on Smart Computing and Control NCSCC-17 was inaugurated at the St Joseph Engineering College conference hall on Thursday, June 29.

The conference was jointly organized by the departments of computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, and computer applications of SJEC in association with Tata Consultancy Services, Bengaluru and Scientific and Academic Publishers, United States.

Dr. Anirban Prabhu, president of Computer Society of India graced the seminar as the chief guest. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, director, SJEC presided over the seminar. 

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the seminar by lighting of the lamp, Dr Anirban said that the government is going all out in its efforts to promote a Digital India and has been promoting various start-up initiatives of entrepreneurs to gain a strong foothold in the digital markets globally. This he said provided a golden opportunity for the software students, engineers as well as researchers from the software field. Computer Society of India too is providing various platforms to students for their research works.

Further he congratulated the college administration for holding a seminar on Smart computing and wished that it gets exposure at the national and international levels.

Fr Wilfred Prakash in his presidential address said that for the first time in the college history, three departments of the college had jointly conducted a seminar, which also provides a platform for exchange of thoughts and concepts and helps a person to gain further knowledge. He wished success to all those present at the seminar, including the organizers.

The introductory address was given by Dr Rio D’Souza, who also welcomed the dignitaries. Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director, SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal, SJEC, Dr Rio D’Souza, HoD-CSE, Dr Sheryl Grace Coloco, HoD-EEE were among those present on the dais.
