Mysuru: Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mysuru-based Automotive Axles. This MoU enables students to get practical exposure and also enables employees of Automotive Axles to take up a three-year part time MBA Executive course.

The MOU between SJCE and Automotive Axles will not only help students to fine tune their skills but also enable employees to take up higher studies. Right from the first year, the 30 selected students belonging to Mechanical and Industrial Production will be exposed to machines. The whole idea of the college and JSS Science and Technology University is to see that the students get into the profession for which they have studied.

B G Sangameshwar, Vice Chancellor, JSS Science and Technology University said, “Many students across the country, even though they study mechanical, industrial production, civil engineering and other such subjects are getting into IT jobs thus wasting their four years’ dedication to study these subjects. Hence to convert that, we took up the initiative to tap the industries for practical exposure of students. This sort of MoU will not only help the students to fine tune their skills but also enable the employees to take up higher studies. This is the first such initiative in Mysuru and in the days to come we will try to tap industries for other branches as well. The firm will select 30 students every year after giving them few tests. The students will start their internship from the first year itself. They will be visiting the company during holidays or free time. After training for four years, those talented students will also be recruited. In turn, 20 of its employees every year will undertake three-year part time MBA course in Executive. Syllabus for the course will be prepared by the University and the company”. Already other colleges have also started to take a leaf out from SJCE.
