Mangaluru: Traditionally students up to 10+2 are more focused on competitive exams. The subjects are also taught with a prime focus on being competitive and cracking exams to get into the best of the best colleges for a better future. This causes hindrances among students to go through a transition from school life to university life.
As most of the universities tend to orient students towards being more applicative and research minded, the initial steps that the institution takes, plays a major role. In this regard, the Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management has taken a pioneering step in conducting a specially designed course along with DTLABZ R&D Pvt Ltd company for the new entrants to bridge the gap between their mindset of a school life and the attitude that is required for engineering education.
“Bridge Course” focuses on teaching the enthusiasts technical aspects pertaining to different branches of engineering in a way that tends to create love towards the subject. It also focuses on team work, building confidence, taking leadership roles and healthy competitive spirit among students to orient them towards becoming real engineers. The contents are designed with challenges and fun-filled learning throughout the course. Students are seen to come out of their comfort zone and work with enthusiasts from different backgrounds to solve challenges by thinking out of the box.
The students who participate in Bridge Course tend to show interest towards challenges posed at national and international competitions. This is evident when 8 teams of Sahyadri College of Engineering comprising of 180 students won at 8 different national events at IIT Karagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Mandi and so on, under the guidance of the mentors of DTLABZ R&D Pvt Ltd. The students have also won 2nd place at SAE International Aero Design competitions in USA.
The lecturers at DTLABZ R&D Pvt Ltd are passionate about promoting students towards practical learning. Hundreds of students today are mentored and guided at DTLABZ to solve social problems through technology and are looking forward to collaborate with institutions to promote engineering learning in a whole new way.
