PACE organises week-long cancer awareness programme

Mangaluru: PA College of Engineer conducted a week-long cancer awareness programme from February 4 to 11 in the college premises , as part of the World Cancer Day. The programme included raising awareness about cancer through posters, a talk and fund-raising. Fund for helping the cancer patients was raised by a unique method, by collecting old newspapers, book materials from staff and students. Volunteers were easily able to collect above 3500kgs of old paper materials.As a conclusion to the awareness program a talk on ‘Preventive Cancer’ was organized. Dr. Oliver Dsouza, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, was the resource person. He spoke on the importance of regularizing exercise and healthy habits as the main preventive measures against cancer. Later he answered the cancer related queries from the students.

The program was presided by Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal, PACE. Prof. Surfraz Hasim J., Director Academics, Dr. Beeran Moideen, Director MBA, Dr. Palakshappa, HOD Civil Engg dept, NSS program Officers Prof. Musthafa Khaleel and Prof. Mansoor , Activity Coordinators Prof. Nabeel Ahemad and Prof. Sayyed Ameen were present during the program. Mr. Mikdad from final year EC read Qirath, Ms. Hafsa from third year CSE welcomed the gathering, Mr. Razak from third year Mechanical engineering proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. Afeef Ali from third year EEE branch compeered the program.
