Mangaluru: The Graduation and Annual Day celebrations for the Post graduates, Graduates and Diploma holders in Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing was held on March 9 in AJIMS Auditorium, Kuntikana, Mangaluru.
The ceremony began with an academic procession with the Graduates walking solemnly towards the stage elegantly garbed in their robes and tassels along with the esteemed dignitaries, principal and professors of college of nursing.
The programme commenced with an invocation dance, followed by a welcome speech by Prof. Shivakumara J, Dept of Mental Health, College of Nursing . The dignitaries on the dais lighted the ceremonial lamp. Dr. Larissa Martha Sams, Principal outlined the annual report. Guest of the day Dr. Sr. Celcy Mary, Principal, St John’s College of Nursing, Bengaluru conferred the candidates with medals and certificates and enlightened the graduates that they were the true ambassadors of this institution to alleviate suffering, inspire and innovate and serve with integrity, compassion and loyalty.
Sandhya D Almeida, HoD, Dept of OBG, College of Nursing recited the Florence Nightingale Pledge and the students recapitulated it, committing themselves to the noble profession. Prashanth Shetty, Vice President, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing awarded the graduates with the mementos and class toppers with the prizes. Delivering the Presidential Address, he enthused graduates to be polite, humble and contribute selflessly to the society. Dr Theresa Leonilda Mendonca, Vice Principal, LMCN, proposed a vote of thanks. Students performed magnificently in the various cultural programmes. The entire programme was compered by Raina Menezes and Cleeta Rodrigues. Around 118 graduates, their guests and other invitees added grandeur to the programme.
