Mangaluru: The Founders Day celebrations at Kanachur Islamic Education Trust commenced with an invocation by the student choir.
The welcome speech was given by Iqbal Ahmed U T, Dean of Kanachur Institute of Management and Sciences.
He welcomed the visionary Haji U K Monu, Founder of Kanachur Islamic Education Trust and Kanachur Group, his wife and trustee of Kanachur Islamic Education Trust Zohara and the other dignitaries which included present Dr. H S Virupaksha, Dean, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Medical Officer, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr. Vivian D’Souza, Head, Biochemistry Department; Hemalatha, Principal, Kanachur Pre University College for Women; Dr. Jayaprakash Rao H T, Professor, General Surgery; Dr. Yashavanth Kumar Rai K, Head, Microbiology; Dr. Kadri Yogesh Bangera, Head, OBG and Dr. Shreesha Kandige, Head, Pathology, on the stage.
Speaking on the occasion, founder U K Monu said that while he had never believed in celebrating his birthday he took the opportunity to come on stage to explain what founders day is each year though very few people tend to listen. This founders day he asked his faculty and students to go back to their work/ classes and put in more hours so that they can achieve what they want in life.
Dr. Virupaksha, in his address mentioned that success was not achieved overnight was a journey. Talking about journey, he delved on the institute’s journey which started in 2002 with the opening of Kanachur Public School and later expanding into a temple of education imparting knowledge to the society, especially with the opening of Kanachur Pre-University College for Women in 2007 and Kanachur Institute Of Management and Science in 2009 and was continuing its growth journey with the medical college that was started in the year 2014. He concluded by wishing U K Monu good health and success in his future endeavours.
