Cine star Darshan to inaugurate ‘Jayciana’ on April 22

Mysuru: The three-day annual cultural extravaganza of Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) “Jayciana” will be held in its campus from April 22 to 24. Jayciana being one of the most awaited events is all about fun and entertainment.

Darshan to play Duryodhana in his 50th film-1As a part of the festival, over 40 unique pre-festival events have been lined up to entertain the students which includes indoor games, outdoor games, photography, cultural events, online events and other informal events. The event is organised by SJCE Students Council and it is also a platform for budding artistes to showcase their talent.

Addressing media persons at Press Club here on Friday, C Nataraju, Student Welfare Officer, SJCE said, “As part of Jayciana event, Cyclothon and Marathon will be held on April 22 and 23 respectively. Cyclothon will be held on the theme “Save Water” while the Marathon is on the theme “Digital India.” Ninada, a solo music competition will be conducted on all three days. The categories are Instrumental, Classical music, Light Music and Film songs. An exquisite Auto Expo will also be held, which will feature exotic cars and bikes. Photo Marathon, the photography competition will be held as a part of the festival. Cultural nights is set have a wide array of celebrities. Each day, cultural nights will be held from 6 pm to 10 pm.” He also mentioned that during this year more emphasis is given on cultural event and security will also be beefed up for the event. The winners of cyclothon and marathon will be provided attractive prizes.

“Cine actor Darshan Thoogudeepa will inaugurate the festival on the first day, followed by a performance by Bollywood singer Shefali Alveras. The second day will have a concert from artiste Vijaya Prakash of “Jai Ho” fame. The third and final day will have a concert by a Romanian musician Edward Maya. The three-day festival will also feature music and dance performances including solo, duet and group from the youth of the city. Each year, faithful alumni, students, faculty, family, friends and the surrounding community participate in this premiere festival celebration”, added Nataraju.

President of the Students’ Association Channappa, C Nataraj, Bhuvan Gowda and Rajath were also present on the occasion.

Schedule:

April 21-Jayciana inauguration by Darshan at 7.30 pm.

April 22-Cyclothon at 6.30 am; performance by Vijaya Prakash from 6.30 pm to 10 pm.

April 23-Marathon at 6.30 am; performance by Romanian musician Edward Maya from 6.30 pm to 10 pm.
