A J Hospital organizes awareness programme on World Kidney Day

Mangaluru: On occasion of world kidney day, A J Hospital & Research Centre organized an awareness programme on “Kidney Disease & Obesity” at its premises here on March 9.

The program began with the flash mob by A.J Institute of Allied Health sciences followed by a talk on Healthy lifestyle for healthy Kidneys by Dr Raghavendra Nayak Consultant Nephrologist, A.J. Hospital & Research Centre.

Addressing the gathering Dr Raghavendra Nayak said that prevention is better than a cure, highlighting that diabetes and high blood pressure are key risk factors for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The impact of kidney ailments is profound on the quality of one’s life. Long-term planning and adherence to preventive measures are needed to avoid complications.
He concluded the talk by saying avoid smoking and alcohol consumption to keep the kidney healthy

A.J Institute of Allied Health Sciences students played the Mime show depicting how the bad habits will lead to Chronic Kidney Disease.

Nursing Dept, A J Hospital Mrs Lavita D’Souza compered the programme.
