Bidar: In a kind gesture, a topper in CET exams returned her gift cheque of Rs 5 lakh to her alma mater Shaheen College.
An event was held to honour students from the district who had secured CET ranks under 500 on Wednesday, June 1.
During the event which was organised by various organisations across the district, Vachana Shree Patil, the CET topper from Bidar, returned the gift cheque that she received from her college and wished it to be utilised in the educational needs of poor students in the college.
Daughter of an advocate father and a doctor mother, she said that she would not face any difficulty as her parents could afford her studies. Hence, the financial help that she received must be used for the education of poor children.
Abdul Quadeer, Sscretary of the Shaheen College committee, on the occasion assured that the college would set up a fund with the five lakhs rupees and help poor students.
Prior to the felicitation, Vachana was taken in a procession from her college to the Zilla Rang Mandir with the presence of students across the district. All the toppers were provided laptops by Shaheen College for their excellence.
