Yaichakuralli enters Limca Book as first smoke-free village of India

Bengaluru: Yaichakuralli village of Chikkaballapura district of the state has entered the Limca book of records as the first smoke-free village of the country. According to Indian Oil Corporation Limited I(IOCL) officials, with migration of all families of the village to LPG based cooking system, the village has become smoke-free and entered the Limca book of records.

According to IOCL nodal officer Varadachari, under Ujwala programme of the union Petroleum ministry, 274 households of the village have been given free LPG connection, making the village smoke-free.

“In December 2015 itself, union government had announced this village as the smoke-free. But now village has entered Limca book of records,” he stated.
