Three highway robbers nabbed by Keshwapur police

Hubballi: The Hubballi Keshwapur Police have nabbed three highway robbers who, in the guise of policemen, were looting the truck drivers on highways.

Two held for assaulting woman-1The arrested have been identified as Anand Mulgund (28), a resident of Settlement area, Mounesh Angadi (26) and Anthony Rajkumar (37), residents of Shalini Park on Gadag Road. The police have also seized a car used for the crime.

Police acted on a complaint filed by a truck driver of Guntkal. He had complained that three persons wearing police uniform had intercepted his vehicle on the highway while he was returning after unloading chilli at Amargol APMC and looted him of Rs 15,000.

Based on the vehicle registration number mentioned in his complaint, the Keshwapur police have arrested the trio and have seized their car on Sunday.

During interrogation, the arrested have reportedly revealed that out of state trucks were their targets and they were looting the ones moving towards Murudeshwar, Ballari and other regions. According to Police, the trio was robbing the truck drivers of Andhra, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh.
