Bengaluru: The notification in connection to a SIT probe into Audiotape row will be out today, Tuesday, February 12.

The audio clip of an alleged conversation between BJP Chief BS Yeddyurappa and Gurmitkal MLA Nagangouda’s son Sharangouda had stirred the hornet’s nest. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had released the tape to establish the fact that the BJP is making desperate attempts to topple the ruling coalition government at the state. In the episode, even name of Speaker Ramesh Kumar was dragged in as allegations were made that the Speaker too had received a kickback of Rs 50 Cr.

Close on the heels of this, ruling members demanded a probe to clear the name of the Speaker and instantly the Speaker ordered a SIT probe. He asked the CM to set the ball rolling and bring out a detailed report within 15 days.

In this backdrop, the CM will give out details on the formation of the SIT and the probe, during the session on Tuesday, February 12. Sources say that the probe team may be led either by an ADGP grade officer or by a retired judge.

Meanwhile, the BJP has pressed for a judicial probe citing that they do not have faith in the government and hence a probe team formed by the CM will not be fair and unbiased.
