Bengaluru: State Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy on Monday called upon the state transport employees’ union to call off the strike.
Reddy said that if the employees withdraw protests, the government is ready for a discussion.
“The government has no intention of revising salaries as the department suffers a loss of Rs 17 crore every day. Fifty per cent of the generated revenue is spent on staff salaries,” he said.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too wants the strike to be called off first. Only then the talks will happen,” he added.
Earlier in the day, CM Siddaramaiah held a meeting with Minister Reddy at his residence ‘Krishna’. Reddy briefed the CM about the development in the state.
The KSRTC employees went on stir from Sunday morning demanding 35 per cent hike in salary. While the state had agreed to give 10 per cent hike, the employees refused to take it. Meetings between the government and the employee unions could not find a solution and ultimately led to a strike which paralysed Bengaluru and other parts of the State.
