State govt opens service, information centres for Sabarimala pilgrims

Bengaluru: In a move which is expected to help lakhs of pilgrims from Karnataka who visit the world famous Sabarimala Aiyappa temple every year, the Karnataka government has decided to open three service and information centres en route to the famous temple. State Muzrai department has taken a decision in this regard.

According to the sources in the Muzrai department, these centers will come up in Pampa, Nilakkal and Kottayam.

As per the order issued by the revenue department under which Muzrai department functions, Rs 25 lakh has been granted to open these centers. “According to an estimation every year around 50 lakhs pilgrims from the state visit the Sabarimala temple. To provide necessary help for them these centers will be opened,” explained an officer.

“These centers will have full-fledged medical and IT services to ensure that in the event of any crisis pilgrims from the state will be provided with all kinds support,” he added

These centers will work for 45 days between December and January 20.
