Bengaluru: Janata Dal (Secular) national president H.D. Deve Gowda has restructured the party organisation and evolved a protocol for monitoring the party’s poll preparations, forming seven core committees headed by senior leaders.

The restructuring includes appointment of leaders in charge of all the 30 districts, new vice-presidents, general secretaries, secretaries, joint secretaries, and organising secretaries. “Representation has been given to all sections of society in the restructuring,” Gowda told reporeters

Adaguru H. Vishwanth, who quit the Congress and joined the JD(S) recently, has been given a plum post of party ideologue and president of publicity committee. Bandeppa Kashampur and H.C. Neeravari will head the parliamentary and political affairs committees, respectively. Rajya Sabha member Kupendra Reddy will head the Bengaluru city monitoring committee.

Gowda, who recently undertook a north Karnataka tour, will visit parts of central Karnataka from next week. JD(S) state president H.D. Kumaraswamy will focus on the northern part of the State while his father will take care of the southern parts.

He has also said the party would finalise its candidates for the Assembly elections by November.

Former Chief Minister and JD(S) State president Mr. Kumaraswamy is in Israel to study the innovative agricultural practices in the desert country. His plan is to adopt the Israel model of farming if his party returns to power in the State. He plans to visit agricultural universities and meet progressive farmers in Israel, with the aim of bringing back smart solutions in farming, especially on water conservation.

The former prime minister said the JD(S) is rethinking continuing its support for the Congress in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), where the Mayoral polls are due in a month. Stating the party’s decision depends on public opinion, he said they would take a call on the matter during the next parliamentary board meeting. ?
