Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has no moral right to continue in office in view of the Income Tax raid on the residence of his close aide Chikkarayappa and Minister Mahadeva Prasad’s aide Jayachandra, according to BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.

Siddaramaiah govt failed miserably in the state: Yeddyurappa-1Speaking with media persons after inaugurating a meeting for Malayalam-speaking people in Bengaluru, Yeddyurappa opined the recent I-T raid on two government officials’ residences and offices had revealed the true colour of Siddaramaiah and his government. “Siddaramaiah government has been protecting the corrupt officials. The huge amount of unaccounted money seized during the I-T raids is an indication to showcase how corrupt is Siddaramaiah government. I want Siddaramaiah to resign immediately since he does not have a moral right to continue as Chief Minister,’’ Yeddyurappa said.

He said that he would raise the I-T raid issue in the Lok Sabha to explain people how Siddaramaiah government has been protecting and safeguarding corrupt government officials in Karnataka. “The recent I-T raid is enough to indicate how some government officials have been looting the state. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be held responsible for the rampant corruption in the state. I am confident of people teaching a lesson to Siddaramaiah in the next elections to the State Assembly,’’ he said.

He also said the BJP had gathered some documents on state government’s role in corruption in the state. “I will release the documents shortly to explain public about the corruption in the state,’’ he said.

BJP has no connection with Rayanna Brigade

BJP national general secretary and in-charge of Karnataka affairs Muralidhar Rao had said the BJP had no connection with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade. Rao had said the BJP would not tolerate if any BJP leader associate or participate in any other morchas or organizations other than those affiliated to BJP. “There are many morchas in BJP. Anyone who wants to strengthen BJP can do so by associating with these morchas. Any BJP leader identifying with other morchas or organizations will attract disciplinary action. It will apply to those who associate with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade,’’ Rao said.

He said the central unit of the BJP has been looking for the expansion of the party in South India under the leadership of Yeddyurappa in Karnataka. “The BJP leadership has already declared Yeddyurappa as the chief ministerial candidate. He is leader not only of the BJP in his capacity as the president but leader of the entire Karnataka state. In the next elections, Congress will become a marginalized party, just as it is in Delhi. We have the responsibility to create full-time workers who will undertake the campaign work till the elections in all the assembly segments and big panchayats,’’ he said.
