Bengaluru: When the state government is planning to introduce popular Indira canteens across the state, the state Women Development Corporation has come out with another innovative project. In a bid to provide quality food for public and jobs for women folk, the corporation has decided to launch mobile food trucks where both veg and non veg meals will be available.
According to the plan, these canteens will be called as ‘Savi Kairuchi’ and will be operated and maintained by the Women Self Help groups.
“These canteens will have both veg and non veg sections,” said Bharati Shankar, Chairperson of the corporation.
Bharati Shankar informed that as per the plans, these canteens will be launched in 5 cities including Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Belagavi, Hubballi and Mysuru. Evey city will get two canteens each.
“Cost per canteen will be Rs.10 lakhs. The pilot project will be launched in Bengaluru on November 1,” she concluded.
