Bengaluru: Senior IAS officer Kapil Mohan, currently the chairman of Karnataka Appellate Tribunal, sent the Lokayukta police into a scare, after he reportedly dropped some powder in front of the chambers of IGP Pronab Mohanty and SP Abdul Ahad.

According to sources, the Lokayukta police had summoned Mohan in connection to a disproportionate assets (DA) case. A notice was sent to him on June 7, 2016 asking him to file a reply before June 23 regarding the DA case.

Mohan reached the Lokayukta office at around 1.45 pm to meet SP (rural) Abdul Ahad. The staff asked him to wait outside as both the IGP and the SP were in a meeting at ADGP Dr S Parashivamurthy’s chambers. A few staff said that, Mohan was feeling uncomfortable and while leaving, dropped some powder outside SP Abdul Ahad’s chambers and repeated the same outside IGP Pronab Mohanty’s chambers too.

The police, who are going through the CCTV footage to check Mohan’s entry and exit, have sent the powder to Forensic Science Laboratory. Sources said that the officer had not made an entry in the register while entering the office.

A person from Mohan’s office came at around 3:30 pm with a letter to the Lokayukta’s. The letter was from Mohan who had stated that, he had visited the office as summoned, but returned finding no one at the SP’s office.

It may be recalled that after a government order, an FIR was filed against Mohan and his wife Dr Richa Saxena in the DA case in September 2015, by the Lokayukta police.
